Thank you for choosing our home on Lake Anna for your family vacation or weekend getaway. We hope you will enjoy the lake home that we have enjoyed for almost five decades.
We have done everything we can to provide a fun, relaxing, and safe place for you to enjoy with family and friends. If there is anything we can do during your stay to make it more enjoyable, please don’t hesitate to ask. We can’t promise we will be able to accommodate every request, but we will make every effort to do so.
We invite you to read through the information on this page, as it has important and valuable information designed to be useful during your stay.
Thank you! Owner Chris White (703-989-6406)
On the water you will find a large swim/boat dock with two piers. (Look for the “Weekend at Bernies” sign.) There are steps down into the water to the left of the dock, and a swim ladder inside the right pier. During normal lake levels, the water is plenty deep enough for diving and swimming – although always take precaution when jumping in the lake. You are welcome to use the basketball goal on the middle post. Basketballs can be found in the basement closet closest to the sliding glass door. You will also find beach and deck chairs there too. Please help yourself. We just ask that you return all items to the closet.
We invite you to enjoy the firepit on the hill. We have supplied the home with six Adirondack chairs for the fire, but you are welcome to use chairs on the dock or in the closet, if you need more. There are stacks of firewood halfway down the hill on the right, and another to the left of the white shed. (We share firewood with the house next door, which is also a VRBO rental.) PLEASE do NOT leave fire unattended.
The deck overlooks the yard and the water. The sun sets right over the water to the right -towards the bridge. You are in for some beautiful sunsets! There is table seating for 10 people on the deck, plus a four-seat cocktail/breakfast table. The dining room table seats 10 as well, plus a kitchen table that seats 8. There are two stools at the breakfast bar.
The family room is equipped with TV provided by Comcast with all your favorite stations. And all rooms have internet-ready smart TVs. The game room has foosball, air hockey, and a tabletop arcade game – with 100’s of classics like PacMan and Space Invaders. The “teen hangout” room in the basement is a perfect place for kids to recharge and, well, hang out.
The front door is equipped with keypad deadbolt lock. Within 48 hours of your arrival, you will receive your personalized code for the door. It will be activated at 5:00 pm on the day of your arrival and become inactivated at 12:00 noon on the day of your departure (unless other arrangements have been made).
If for any reason you have any problems at all, please contact us on the mobile phone listed above, and we will help you gain access to the property.
Please note there are a total of 5 exterior doors in the home. The ONLY “key” you will have is the code for the front door. While you are at the home, we welcome you to use all the doors so that everyone in your group has easy entry and exit throughout your stay. Should you decide to leave for dinner or some other excursion, just remember to lock all doors and both exit & return through the front door. Your access code will be active during your entire stay.
You will find that the Garage is locked from both the outside and inside. It – along with three closets in the basement – are reserved as “owner’ lockouts”. So don’t be confused if you can’t access the garage or a few closets. That’s by design.
Occasionally, we may come to the lake to enjoy a day on the water with our boat – which sometimes sits on a trailer on the edge of the property. As such, we reserve the right to come and retrieve our boat and access the garage briefly to retrieve things like water toys, life jackets, etc.
We would provide at least 6 hours advance notification, if not 24 hours, and would be there only long enough to retrieve our things and leave. We would not enter the home, other than to access the garage from the outside. We would not come down to the waterfront area. We might return later that day to put the boat back on the lot and put the items back in the garage, and then leave.
IF this happens, it would most likely be on a Saturday or Sunday and would NOT happen more than one time during your stay, if at all. We feel strongly about respecting your privacy and giving you the opportunity to enjoy the home as if it were your own.
The home is in Spotsylvania County - across the bridge from Hunters Landing.

There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen under the sink.
We understand that for a number of reasons, you may want additional guests to visit or stay in the house that were not on the original reservation. If this comes up, please contact us to let us know ASAP. We will accommodate wherever possible. However – no parties, no weddings (yes, it has happened!), no bands, etc. The homeowner association has strict rules on occupancy based on the number of bedrooms per unit. While we have multiple sleeping options so that people can spread out, we are still limited by the by-laws on total number of occupants.
If you’re coming to Lake Anna to party and have fun you’ve picked a great place to do so. Let’s just not be loud and obnoxious in the process. We’re sure it won’t come to it. However, if we do receive complaints of loud or unruly behavior, it will result in you being asked to leave. Not good for you. Not good for us. We spend a lot of time in this home and have wonderful neighbors. Let’s help keep them “friendly neighbors”.
Please no pets unless approved in advance. If your pet is with you and we didn’t discuss it, please let us know. We will likely hear about it from a neighbor or see you when we float by on our boat, so give us a heads up. Pets must be crated if left alone unattended, and on a leash when outside. Please scoop the poop and place into trash bags. Excessive pet hair removal or damage will be charged upon check out. (Please note, ALL trash placed in the large bin near the garage must be in large, sealed bags. Please DO NOT throw small bags of dog waste in the large bin. They need to be in the large bags that you bring from the house.)
To ensure the full safety of our furnishings and our guests’ belongings, we ask that all exterior doors be locked as a precautionary measure when leaving the property or out on the lake. We have never had any “incidents” and consider it to be an incredibly safe street. But no reason to take chances when no one is at the home.
We understand that accidents happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them as effortlessly as possible which also means a smaller, or zero, damage charge made to you.
You are welcome to park wherever you like between the house and the street – on the driveway or the grass. We simply ask that no cars go beyond the driveway towards the lake – on either side.
You are also welcomed to store your boat or jet ski trailer on the property while your rental is active. Please NO RV TRAILER PARKING or TENTS of any kind on the property at any time.
Please place all trash in the large bin in front of the garage. All trash MUST BE PUT IN LARGE KITCHEN BAGS AND TIED before being placed in the large bin.
TRASH IS SCHEDULED TO BE PICKED UP ON WEDNESDAYS. (Subject to change)
The lawn is mowed once/week. Currently this occurs on Wednesdays or Thursdays but is subject to change due to weather and other circumstances. We appreciate you making room for the lawn company when they are on sight.
